Online Shopping for the Right Birthstone Jewelry

The modern birthstone list was compiled in 1912. This may seem like a long time ago, so it is, in fact, hardly modern. But considering that the traditional lists go all the way back to the 15th century, this is the most updated table as of now.

Most birthstone jewelry providers follow this list. It is, however, updated from time to time. The most recent change was in 2002, when Tanzanite was added as a secondary birthstone for the month of December.
The pink tourmaline was also added as an additional birthstone for October.

The month of June also received the moonstone as an additional birthstone aside from pearl. The Romans and Indians preferred the moonstone, which is considered as sacred and prophetic. Moonstone is also known to protect against indigestion, epilepsy, headaches, nose bleeds, and sun strokes.

So this brings us to the subject of whether the supernatural and healing powers of these stones really work. People have taken to assigning supernatural powers to inanimate objects – this has been true for centuries. Some consider it as a means to gain control in a world that’s so out of human control.

This same phenomenon was applied to birthstones. Each birthstone has a certain supernatural power attributed to it. There is a big difference between the supernatural and what could be possibly real effects of the stone. After all, all these stones are minerals, and minerals really do bring benefits to the human body.

Peridot, for example, is known to help reduce stress and have a relaxing effect on the wearer. Turquoise is also said to provide mental relief and to calm the emotions. Moonstone can also supposedly calm emotions.
